I’VE BEEN

WHERE YOU ARE!

I’ve walked in your shoes as an entrepreneur. My husband and I started a children’s museum in my hometown, Tulsa, OK, 27 years ago. I had graduated Cum Laude from Duke University, where I met my husband and attained a Masters in Clinical Psychology. We both thought we were pretty darn smart and that was enough to run a business!

And yet- while we had studied other museums and became good at our craft, some parts of our business flourished, but other parts floundered. In truth, we didn’t really know how to build and manage all the moving parts of a business well. We were constantly overwhelmed and putting out fires. And like most small businesses- ours closed in five years.

It was a very humbling experience.

 A Path of Lifelong Learning

After a period of feeling sorry for myself, I decided to put my big girl pants on and move forward. I became a lifelong learner. I started two more businesses- first as a family therapist with one assistant and then as a life design and business coach with a team of five. I invested over $120,000 (embarrassingly) across five business coaches and read hundreds of business, mindset, and wellness books. I wanted to learn as much as I could about business development and healthy living.

Along the way, I wrote The Balanced Mom- Raising Your Kids Without Losing Your Self (New Harbinger, 2006). I studied mindfulness at Duke Integrative Medicine and received a certificate in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. As an avid yogi, I wanted to learn the deeper meanings of yoga and meditation, and understand how they help us live happier lives, so I completed my 200 level yoga teacher certification.

Why so much interest in balance and mindfulness?

Because the truth is- I’ve always believed that life balance is important, good health is paramount, and happiness matters.

I believe that real entrepreneurial “success” is running a sustainable, profitable business AND living a quality life you enjoy.

For me, that means plenty of time to do yoga, ski, hike with my Samoyed puppy, plan international travel adventures with our three kids, try to help lower the opportunity gap in the US and globally, and enjoy good food and good wine with close friends.

And as much as living a balanced, quality life has been important to me personally, it has also been very important for me to share the tools I’ve learned with my clients.

And though I am so grateful to have worked in so many industries, it’s been interesting to learn that the industry doesn’t really matter. I’ve seen how the challenges are the same, with small business owners who have anywhere from 2 – 20 employees. And what works in one industry is often helpful to share with other industries. Fresh ideas and solutions help all entrepreneurs grow and stand out from the crowd.

Over the years, I’ve sat side by side with the struggles, the frustrations, the anger, and the tears of my clients, all of which I’ve experienced myself.  And I learned what has helped them run their businesses better and what has helped them take back their lives at the same time.  I’ve seen what has kept my clients stuck in overwhelm and what propelled them forward.

I’ve learned that although being good at your craft and serving a need that a target market wants is critical, sustainable success and scaling come from learning and implementing the right structure, systems, team, and mindset

As I built my business coaching and consulting practice, I had the good fortune to be asked to be a featured author in Mastering the Art of Success (2017) along with Jack Canfield, Les Brown, and other experts.  It was an honor to share the success principles I’ve learned in that book.

And I decided I wanted to offer a business coaching program that was unique- without all the travel, the relentless marketing tactics, the “upsells”, and the lack of private coaching with the source of the training.

So I developed this program that is based on 20 years of experience and that shares a proven blueprint for scaling that works. It includes monthly private coaching directly with me, as well as a small group mastermind to learn from other like-minded entrepreneurs.

It brings me joy to be on the scaling journey, side by side with my awesome clients, and share proven strategies, systems, and habits that have helped hundreds of entrepreneurs like you leap into their next level of business- one that runs better, with less of their time, and allows them to live life on their own terms. They deserve that and so do you!
